AVENTUR
AVENTUR - EDITORIAL
A client that I have previously worked for (see Jay Francis Boyle photography), was interested in showcasing their work in an editorial. I was really keen to work on this project as I had already created an identity for him, therefore I knew what he would like.
Jay is a photographer and has some amazing stories and images from around the world. This first example is the front cover that I have created. I wanted to ensure that my design complimented his imagery, therefore, I am keeping it simple and modern, the images speak for themselves.
I chose the title ‘Aventur’ for the editorial, the word is translated from the Cornish language and means ‘Adventure’. Jay is Cornish through and through, which is why I thought having a Cornish title has a lot of sentiment.
I wanted the magazine to have an educational feel to it, particularly as Jay worked with some incredible organisations that have so much to teach and make people aware of. I created some illustrations that would work a long side the text to break it up and add some visual elements.
The colours that I have used throughout the magazine have been swatched from Jay’s images, and each colour is specific to the images in that particular chapter.
At the beginning of the magazine, I drew a world map and pointed out each area that Jay has been to and where the photographs have been taken. Then throughout the magazine, when I talk about each area, I have reintroduced the map and zoomed in on that particular country.
